Data Collection

 Data Collection

The assessments mentioned before are used to compile data specific to the school. This data is then analysed to ascertain what works and what does not. This leads to constant evaluation of the community by the stakeholders to ensure the necessary changes are made to benefit the students.

  1. Some of the methods or tools I use for data collection are observation, forms, checklists, continuous assessment and pen-paper tests. Collecting data is very important because it shows me where a student has come from and where he/she is going. Not only does it work for academics but also for behaviour and conduct. More importantly, the collection of data shows me as the teacher, if my teaching styles from "process-to-product" works. I can then analyze the information collected which is usually scores, marks or grades to see what teaching styles I need to remove or improve to help my students grow, develop and bloom in all spheres of their lives.

  2. Data collection is an excellent tool for me to use as a teacher. With the information collected, allows me to plan more effectively and deliver my lessons to cater to the needs of the different students in my charge. It assists me in knowing if I need to reteach, what I can do differently and makes for a smoother delivery of lessons.
